It's a restaurant that was meant to be. From the moment Don Monette bought the property on Nov. 1,1971, that now houses THE FLAGSTAFF HOUSE, there was not a doubt in his mind that he could make it work. Now, 33 years later, the Flagstaff House is still winning the big awards. As the only Colorado restaurant named to the Nation's Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame, one would think the consistently superlative restaurant might begin to rest on its laurels, but it doesn't. Flagstaff continues to welcome guests with aplomb, pour them glasses of wine from a collections of more than 20,00 bottles that garnered the Grand Award from Wine Spectator magazine, and serve them exquisite, French-Influenced, innovative American cuisine that has earned the Mobil Four Star Award, and Triple AAA Four Diamond Award, and the DiRoNa Award. With a view overlooking the entire metro area, the lights dancing on the horizon, the breezes blowing through the pines, and excellent wines being poured, it's not out of the question to imagine how many diners here have popped the question, said "I do," or celebrated any number of great events in their lives. It's an evening - suburban or otherwise - you'll never forget.
